July 4, 2009 was an historic day for KCRC--the day that a turbine-powered aircraft flew at our field for the first time.
After practicing on Georgia Jets' 1,000-foot runway to make sure he could take off and land in less than 300 feet, Jeff Prosise flew his BVM BobCat at KCRC. The take-off used about 250 feet of the runway, and the landing about the same. "I was thrilled to get the landing over with, because no matter how much you practice, there's little room for error on our short runway," said Jeff after the flight. "But the flight itself was pure fun. It was very cool to fly a turbine at my home field."
John Heard captured a video of the flight on VHS tape. Clips from the video were recently converted to digital format and posted on YouTube. Click here to watch on YouTube, or watch the video in the player below.
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.
